| Pakistan 's leading IT infrastructure services firm Si3, opened doors to North American customers this November, with the inauguration of Si3 Canada's office, in Toronto 's high-tech Markham town.

Si3 hosted a dinner at the scenic Bayview Golf & Country Club for over a hundred made primarily of Canadian businessmen, professionals, and government officials, marking the launch of Si3's global operations. After establishing itself locally, with a strong blue-chip customer base back home, Si3 showcased Pakistan 's capability and capacity as an alternative offshore destination for outsourcing services.
Addressing an audience of over a hundred distinguished guests, primarily from the expatriate community in Canada & US, Honorable Mike Colle, Minister of Citizenship & Immigration, Province of Ontario shared his experiences of visiting earthquake affected regions of Pakistan last year. The Minister spoke of the many areas where Pakistani community and businesses are adding value to Canada .
Pakistan 's Counsel General to Canada , Ghalib Iqbal gave an update of the economic realities and investment climate in Pakistan , and how perceptions of the country are changing for the better.
Andy Merchant, President of Pakistan Canada Business Council shared past successes and future plans to facilitate trade opportunities. Andy spoke enthusiastically about the Si3 success story, and his involvement in early days of venture genesis in Toronto .
Amer Hashmi, President & CEO, Si3, gave an eye-opening presentation “New Frontier of Business – Integrating Global IT Infrstructure” to the audience, sharing key considerations about Pakistan's bullish investment climate, industry growth rates, knowledge capital, abundant skilled human resources and IT infrastructure, making it a viable destination for offshoring services. At a Gala Night ceremony attended by all member companies, of Pakistan Software Houses Association, corporate sector, financial sector, telecom sector, academic sector, and public sector, Si3 was awarded winner of 2 prestigious PASHA National ICT Awards, and took home a merit award as well.
Winner: Best Revenue Growth
This Award was presented to the IT/ITES Company that registered the best revenue growth during the past financial year 2005-06– both in terms of domestic and export revenue. Si3 grew an unprecedented 562%, year-on-year, with all revenues from domestic business.
Winner: Best Brand Development
Si3 won this award, by managing to brand itself most effectively. Amongst the things that were assessed were corporate identity, advertisements, collateral, and media exposure.
Merit Award: Best IT/ITES Employer
This Award was presented to the best IT/ITES Employer from amongst the IT and ITeS companies based in Pakistan. This includes areas such as best environment to work in, best learning and growth opportunities, challenging work, motivating managers and supervisors, good systems. This shall be a one-window solution assisting MCB Bank fulfill end-to-end technical requirements seamlessly for the launching of its Card System Solution. Si3’s people, partnerships and proficiency in tools and methodologies utilization, its core strengths, are the factors that differentiated Si3 from its competitors.
As an IBM Business Partner, Si3 shall be supported by IBM Pakistan during the course of the project and shall be providing the warranty and maintenance services directly to the Bank. This grouping is extremely well positioned to meet the functional and technical requirements of the project.

Through competitive bidding, funded by the UK Government, Si3 won the ERRA contract for Supply and Installation of Hardware and Software and Data Centre facility for Hosting.
Connectivity is provided from Si3 Data Center to Head Office, to 8 earthquake-affected areas. Multiple xSeries servers, Microsoft’s e-mail collaboration suite, and Donor Financial Management and Disbursement applications are being provided to facilitate the affected. As a special gesture of goodwill, Si3 will be hosting all ERRA technology infrastructures at its Islamabad Data Centre, free of charge for three years. |

British Petroleum (BP) is currently running Oracle Applications in its offices in Pakistan. BP has selected Si3 to maintain and support their Oracle applications and to monitor its performance. KASB Bank Limited has embarked on a major refresh of its information technology infrastructure, primarily its Core Banking Application to achieve strategic business objectives. For this purpose the Bank has selected Misys Core Banking System and Si3 has been awarded the contract for deployment services.
Si3 as the lead integrator shall provide the functional and technical application implementation resources in collaboration with Misys and IBM Pakistan for the total project. Such an approach achieves two purposes; lowering the implementation costs and ensuring the availability of key functional and technical resources who understand the details of the solution during the course of the project. To ensure project success our technical services team shall work with the Bank’s business leaders so that the technical solution meets the business needs identified by the Bank.
The Core Banking System modules to be implemented include:
- Equation Core / Retail;

- Trade Innovation;
- Treasury;
- Branch Automation; and
- MIS Reporting.
This project shall be managed by a dedicated project manager through Si3’s Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO will provide expert solutions by certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) to KASB Bank with critical juncture support, a foundation of knowledge in structured project management, tools, methodologies, processes and quality assurance expertise. The project management services for this project will cover the complete lifecycle of the project from initiation to closing.
In addition to deployment services, Si3 has been contracted by KASB Bank to provide the core sever for running Misys application - IBM’s iSeries Server model 520. |

Capitalizing on Si3’s experience in Business Continuity services, DIB has selected Si3’s Data Center as its Disaster Recovery Site to host the Core Banking Application and other critical support systems including proxy servers. The Disaster Recovery Site IT infrastructure comprising of IBM pSeries and xSeries servers including IBM Blade Center has been provisioned by Si3 as well.
In the case of a disaster or a system(s) failure/crash at the DIB Head Office, the systems would be available through Si3’s Data Center which is connected by a 2MBps DXX Link and an alternate route via a 512Kbps backup link to be established over the internet through VPN tunnel.
This partnership has enabled DIB with remote backup hardware and systems support.

A satisfied customer, Geo has procured NetApp technologies for its storage requirements. The NetApp FAS 270C meets the needs for the storage of Geo Web-portal database and e-mail storage via Exchange servers.
As the exclusive representatives of NetApp storage family in the country, Si3 has offered Geo TV the FAS 270C with 1Tb of usable storage. The FAS 270C includes dual RAID controllers so as to mitigate the risk of damage of the RAID controller on the storage. The solution also includes 300GB 10K RPM FC disk drives, rack mounting kit and software. |

As technology partners for one of the fastest growing Indian IT companies, Si3 has successfully completed a project for an American company in the hospitality industry which was breaking off into four smaller companies.
As a result of the hospitality company breaking into four companies, its audit application also had to be separated so that each firm could maintain its data with confidentiality. Si3’s role was to completely discard complex application data belonging to other firms after analyzing the data and its impact on the whole application. |

Si3 has been awarded winner of "Best of Start-Up Companies" category at the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Information Communications Technology (ICT) Awards 2005 in Karachi on the evening of December 6, 2005. The event followed by a Gala Dinner was attended by around 350 people from the ICT sector across the country, as well as corporate and government guests. The winners demonstrated their to a panel of judges from varied disciplines of the industry.
On behalf of Si3, Amer Hashmi received the Award Trophy, and in his acceptance speech thanked his entire team, and elaborated on Si'3s vision and unique business model as a technology integrator.
Since its inception in May 2004, Si3 had won multi-million dollar contracts from the Public Sector and Banking Sector, through competitive bids against world-class IT solution providers. This rapid growth as a start-up company sets SI3 apart from its peers.
"Si3 ECXS Virtual Acquiring" was recognized as a "Special Mention" award by the panel of judges, for its nomination in the category of "Best of Financial Applications" .

The National Logistics Cell (now known as National Logistics Corporation- NLC) is a national provider of Transportation, Engineering and Tolling Services and also the largest logistics company in Pakistan . In addition to Fleet Logistics, NLC operations include management of Dry Ports , Highway construction and maintenance activities, as well as Toll collection at highways.
In June 2004, NLC released a Request for Proposal for deploying a Fleet Management System and a Financial System for their operations. Si3 responded to this RFP with a 600+ page document in July 2004. After a thorough review of the proposal and presentations, Si3 was chosen out of the final four contenders which included SAP and Oracle implementers.
The e-NLC project aims at establishing a solid business infrastructure within the organization, positioning it to expand its interests to the Telecom, Energy and Manufacturing sectors as well. This implementation involves deployment of a Fleet Management System by DCS Logistics of Holland and Oracle E-Business suite. This project also includes deployment of a nation wide private network for NLC which would support applications, email, Voice-Over-IP and Video Conferencing. Lotus Notes will provide email, document management and workflow applications. The servers include an IBM's state-of-the-art pSeries (p5) server which will host the ERP, Payroll and Fleet Management applications and three IBM Xeon-based xSeries servers which will run Lotus Notes, LDAP and Antivirus applications. NetApp storage hardware will provide disaster recovery to NLC.
The project is being managed by a dedicated Project Management Office that will be coordinating all the project activities among Si3, NLC, Contractors and Suppliers.
This nationwide rollout of e-NLC project will be supported by Si3 Karachi and Islamabad offices including any necessary customization of the application and support the IT solution for NLC's overall business. Si3 will be working closely with NLC's business and IT teams to deliver a high quality business solution.

Following the tremendous response of clients, Si3 has announced that the office in Islamabad will be functional in the next 3 months. This will be phenomenal considering the amount of construction taking place in major cities of Pakistan and the month of Ramadan right around the corner. The office in Islamabad will open before the end of this year. Following the tradition of the Karachi office, a large data center will take a prominent space in this office. This will also provide clients with the facility to choose their Disaster Recovery sites from any of the two cities. This puts Si3 in the forefront of DR Service provision being the only company in Pakistan able to offer double redundancy disaster recovery.

Habib Bank Limited recently awarded Si3 a contract to formulate an IT Security Framework for Secure Banking. Under the deal Si3 will provide HBL with best practices, conduct a gap analysis and give recommendations based on the analysis.

Air Blue recently selected Si3 ECXS payment gateway over an existing e-payment solution provided to them by an international company. The change was required to address certain problems in the billing system.
Si3 ECXS is Si3’s e-payment gateway with Citibank. 95% of online credit card transactions from and within Pakistan flow through this virtual gateway. |
