Article – CMMI Initiatives

Striving for world-class Best Practices involves resistance to change in the firm’s corporate culture. For an integrator company like Si3, the quest for process improvement is more daunting with a business model designed for more complex delivery than customary software development projects.

Si3 has undertaken CMMI initiatives, with process improvement specialists in 3 core organization support sections which are:

Configuration Management
According to Gartner Research, Configuration Management (CM) is one of the most important components in a corporate IT environment.  Si3’s CM team has implemented the organizational process for central repository, versioning and change control. Two organizational repositories were formed to cater for project and departmental assets.
                               
Process Improvement
Following tasks have been undertaken:

  • GAP analysis from CMMI perspective
  • Creation of missing processes
  • Implementation of gaps in existing processes
  • Training of resources in defined processes
  • Quality Assurance from CMMI on product standards for software as well as end-to-end integration projects.
  • Detecting areas of improvement by applying measurement objectives to project data.

Professional Testing Section

  • As part of Verification and Validation process areas of CMMI, Professional Testing has the following aims
  • To implement manual and automated testing for applications and branded ERPs
  • Strategic placement of application testing services based on automated or manual tools
